Orientation Information
Please read the following information carefully. If you have any questions, please let me know.
About Online Courses
DSCC Online courses are completely online and are held in an asynchronous format. This means that your instructor will give you assignments and deadlines and as long as you complete the assignment by the deadline, you can do so during a time that works for your schedule. DSCC Online courses are not to be confused with self-paced courses. Test Proctoring (taking tests onsite) may be required and is decided by the instructor of the course. You should check with your instructor on the first day of class to see if proctoring is a requirement. DSCC Hybrid courses are a blend between meeting in a face-to-face setting and working online. Unlike DSCC Online courses, DSCC Hybrid courses do meet face-to-face so be sure to look at the meeting days/times. Your instructor will give you specific details on the first day of class (face to face meeting) regarding expectations and course requirements. Please review the documents below to ensure you are prepared for the upcoming semester.
Instructor Expectations
I expect you to be respectful of both me and the other classmates first and foremost. You should also complete any and all assignments (when applicable) by the due date assigned.
Student Expectations
You can expect me to extend the same respect that I ask of you in the previous section. If we together nurture a culture of respect, other issues will "fall into place" so to speak. Please see the syllabus for a complete list of course "ground rules."
Communication Preference
I will make every effort to contact you within 24 hours of your initial contact (although I usually reply much faster). Please contact me through my DSCC email account ([email protected]) or give me a call at 731.286.3206.
