When I click on my Instructors attachment (like a PowerPoint presentation), I cannot open it. Why?
To open non-webpage (html) attachments, you need to have that program installed on the computer where you are trying to open it. If you are opening a PowerPoint file, you need to have PowerPoint or PowerPoint Viewer installed on your computer. If you need access to a computer with Microsoft Office, you can visit one of the campus labs. For technical assistance with online classes, contact the LRC Help Desk at 731-288-7780 in Dyersburg or 901-475-3177 in Covington or 731-222-5180 in Trenton. You may also contact the Help Desk by e-mail at [email protected].
If I have a question or complaint about my instructor in an online course, who do I contact?
You should first talk to your instructor directly. If you still have unresolved issues, you should feel free to speak to the Division Dean or contact the Distance Education Coordinator at 731-286-3292.
I can't view my quizzes, discussion postings, or download links.
Pop-up blockers can stop you from using several DSCC eLearn (D2L) tools correctly. Pop-up blocking functions are included in some anti-virus, internet security, personal firewall, and toolbar browser programs (such as Google and Yahoo toolbar). Even Windows XP Service Pack (SP2) includes a popup blocker for Internet Explorer 6. This feature can potentially cause problems with DSCC eLearn (D2L). To adjust the pop-up blocker settings in Internet Explorer, 1) Click on Internet Explorer 2) Click on the Tools tab at the top of the page to open a drop down menu, 3) click on Pop-up Blocker, 4) click on Pop-Up Blocker Settings. This will allow you to add this site to your browser. Are online courses easier than traditional courses?
Online courses require at least as much effort and time as traditional courses, if not more. Since students work primarily on their own without face-to-face contact with instructors, they may not always have regular classroom reminders and clarifications available to students in traditional courses.

Other than the possible proctored examination, internet course work is done completely online.
